MIGFUNDER.com is a crowdfunding platform, aimed primarily at funding migrant start-ups, as well as development projects, humanitarian initiatives and research projects focusing on migrant and refugee communities, worldwide. We use the power of the internet and social media to spread the word about your project and generate funding from backers both large and small to make the difference you are seeking to achieve.
What type of projects does Migfunder cover?
• Migrants looking to create (or grow) their businesses abroad or in their countries of origin • Migrant organisations, public agencies (including international organisations), NGOs and individuals looking to launch a development or humanitarian initiative in support of migrant and refugee communities worldwide • Academics and think tanks looking to fund a new research project in this area.
Can community groups and NGOs use MIGFUNDER?
Yes of course. MIGFUNDER’S aim is to support funding campaigns and initiatives for migrant communities, migrant organisations, public agencies (including international organisations) and NGOs supporting such communities.
Using MIGFUNDER is easy. The first step is to register with a username and password which you should keep secure.
How do I launch a project on MIGFUNDER?
· After you have registered, click on the tab ADD PROJECT. You will then be asked to complete an online form with information about yourself and your project and the amount of money you are aiming to raise.
· Always remember that you are selling your campaign to others who may not know anything about what you are trying to achieve.
· So tell your story and provide as much background information as you can about yourself and your organisation as well as your project.
· Photos and short videos are also an excellent way of communicating the campaign and making people feel part of it.
· And tell all your friends that your project is on MIGFUNDER. Using the power of your social networks is one of the most valuable tools you have to spread the word and raise your funds.

Will MIGFUNDER help me prepare my campaign?
We are here to help and advise on your campaign if you need it.
How long will the project appear on the MIGFUNDER platform?
The maximum Fundraising Period is normally 12 weeks.
What happens if I do not raise the full target amount?
For development, humanitarian and research projects, MIGFUNDER only offers the ‘flexible funding’ option, meaning that the Project Owners keep whatever funds they have raised, whether or not they have reached their funding target.
For migrant start-ups, MIGFUNDER only offers the ‘full funding’ option, meaning that the Project Owners only receive the funds raised if the target set is met. If the target is not met, funds are returned to the Project Backers.
We also allow for Overfunding where the Project Owner keeps any funds raised which exceed the target which has been set.
We do not make any charge for publishing a Project on MIGFUNDER.
Nor is there a charge where a campaign is under the Full Funding option and the Funding Target is not reached. In that case all pledges will be returned to the Project Backers.
If a Project reaches or exceeds the Funding Target or is raising funds under the Flexible Funding scheme, at the end of the Fundraising Period, the following fees will be deducted from the Pledges received for your Project before they are distributed to the Project Owner:
a) 5% of the Total Pledges received from Backers for your Project
b) Payment processing costs with Paypal: 1.4%
What is a reward and do I have to provide one?
A reward is a way of saying thank you for a donation. Normally it is a unique gift linked in some way to the Project and might for example take the form of a letter or photograph describing how the Project has developed as a result of the donations received.
But you are not obliged to provide a reward.
How do I make a donation?
· Identify the project to which you wish to donate, insert the amount of your contribution and click the CONTRIBUTE button.
· Enter the amount you want to pledge
· Register your username and password
· Complete the payment details

We use PAYPAL which is an established payment processor with worldwide reputation.
Can I donate anonymously?
Yes you can. Donating anonymously means that your name will not appear on our website in relation to a particular project, although you will still need to provide all your personal details to MIGFUNDER.
What happens when I donate?
When you donate, the money is held by the card processor until the funding period has ended.
Where a Campaign is under the Full Funding option and the Funding Target is not reached all pledges will be returned to the Project Backers.
If a Project reaches or exceeds its Funding Target or is raising funds under the Flexible Funding scheme, at the end of the Fundraising Period pledges are sent to the Project Owner minus our fee and any fees for payment processing,
